The point of their life is to be owned, and do battle. It is hard to tell which creatures are good and which are bad, they just are always battling. The main premise is an arena where creatures fight each other. That being said, the future of Pokémon on Blu-ray is still worth looking forward to for those who want to enjoy Pokémon in the highest quality possible.The Romans gathered strong men and had them fight each other in an arena. For those who aren’t concerned about the quality, however, the most recent DVD collection might be a better alternative to the incomplete Blu-ray set of the first season. Considering that Viz Media has called this season 1, it’s likely we’ll see it continued on Blu-ray for multiple season to come.
#Pokemon indigo league upgrade
When side by side or watched one after the other, it becomes apparent just how much of an upgrade it really is. Fortunately it was just the one episode, so easy to overlook in the greater scheme of things, but this is something that should have been an easy fix before releasing.Īside from a couple visual issues with the color red and one sound inconsistency, the episodes are a great upgrade from the regular DVD versions of the available Pokémon releases. It’s hard to say if it’s across all Blu-ray sets or just this particular disc, but the episode Mystery at the Lighthouse suffers from its background music and sound effects being distorted throughout. Sound quality is better than its predecessors, but there is one episode in this set that is a bit of a problem. It’s not an issue that takes away from watching, but it is an odd change up to the episodes when it’s only included in the half of them.
One of the oddest things to happen is that around halfway through the episodes the messages that would usually be seen when going to a commercial break and returning start appearing multiple times in each episode. In classic fashion the end of every episode features one portion of the Poké Rap. The only issue with the visuals are a couple of times when red is a prominent color on a character, which appears extremely over-saturated and loses some of the original lineart for characters in the process. The colors are much brighter in episodes and makes things pop a little more like people will have remembered from watching years back. The regular DVD set includes a grainy texture to it as one would expect from older animated shows, while the HD version is crisp and clean looking. Visually, this is the cleanest version of Pokémon available to own. Also included is a note card with a recipe for a sweet potato Pikachu snack. In addition to the six Blu-ray discs, a short chapter of the classic Pokémon Adventures manga is added in as a bonus. The Blu-ray set itself includes a clear cover with Pikachu on the front and once removed is a nice box container shaped like the classic Pokédex.
#Pokemon indigo league series
Like sets of the series released in English before it, there’s no Japanese language option, but there are of course English subtitles. The only special feature found on the discs is a Who’s That Pokémon mini-game that isn’t anything really exciting as it just goes through a bunch of Pokémon silhouettes without really being a game. In comparison, the regular DVD box set of the Indigo league from Viz includes the first 78 episodes which makes up the entire first season minus two controversial episodes and those that were never dubbed. This is due in part to how they split up the original series, putting the second half of the Indigo League as part of the Orange Islands series as it aired. Although it calls itself the Indigo League, this Blu-ray set only includes the first 52 episodes as they originally aired on television versus the original 80 in the season. The first thing people interested should know is that this set is not the entirety of the first season. Viz media released the first three movies last year on Blu-ray and has since released most of the first season in English on Blu-ray for the first time ever as the “Champion’s Edition.” With six discs and lots of episodes it was fun to dive into the series from the beginning, so we took a look to see how well it holds up when compared to other releases. Any Pokémon fan has likely tuned in to watch the animated series once or twice, if not kept up with throughout the years, and those who have been with the series since the beginning likely remember how it all began with Ash and Pikachu.
